I know it's not news, but for anyone who may not know this, I have just head direct from a Skoda dealership that Skoda UK are carefully watching this site and extracting any number plates of cars with reference to modifications.:thumbdwn:

Just in case anyone plans to show any photographs of their remapped new cars.;)

I think if they paid more attention to the lack of customer satisfaction in general from members, and tried to improve their service than penalise and witch hunt those few who have modified their cars it would be a better use of their time.

They are all the same.

It would be nice to see a press release one day from SUK saying, due to feedback from a well know skoda owners forum we have decided to make the following changes/ amendments to how SUK operate.

But what's the chances of that:mad:

I would be tempted to get a Fabia vRS next if a dealer offered a remap, otherwise it's a no no. :(

Surely it would be better if Skoda UK offered the remap ;)

Oh, and SUK are welcome to PM me if they want to know what's been done to my car that may invalidate my warranty

Though if they're not paying out for repairing modified cars which have broken then they'll have more money/resource to deal with customers who can stick to the clearly stated terms and conditions of the warranty agreement...

Rob.

It's not news that Skoda watch this site , any more than it's news that modifying the car will invalidate your warranty.

For those that think this is unfair can they explain why they think this shouldn't apply to them?

My car is modified, and much like my insurance company, if I take it into a dealership I mention it upfront. If on the basis of that they won't carry out what would have been a warranty job then that's cool. If they do things under warranty, it's a bonus.

My warranty period is due to expire this year anyway as I'm gonna hit 60k this year, and when it was 'fair' I was allowed to use warranty. I know the car has now been registered as modified with SUK, and that's fine.

If my sunroof were to fail I'd go to the dealership though ;)

Sure, SUK are watching. Don't see a problem in principle. They no doubt want to see how their cars are being improved, performance wise (in the eyes of the owner) plus general feedback. What's wrong with that?

It's up to an individual to check whether mods will be covered and also to report any mods to their insurance company.

Apols to anyone new to the site, but there's tons of info on here. If in doubt, ask, methinks.

Mo

I was up front with my mods, even sent them a list of what I had done to it (including the airfreshener  ) Yes they did do warranty work on it (front seats and gearbox synchro) so I think it is a case of you play fair with them, they play fair with you.

My dealer knew all about my modifications, they even offered a service of getting them re-mapped for you.

Mine is now 22K miles out of warranty so i can do what i want to it and not have to be concerned with it anymore,Its quite refreshing actually.

I wish more manufacturer's took notice of what is a growning trend to improve/modifying that goes on,

surely there must be money in it otherwise we wouldn't have such a big choice of who we wish to go with.

If the manufacturers had similar options i'm sure they could do it cheaper, still make money from it and we'd all be happy that we ordered our cars to our required specifications.

And by the way HELLO SUK!!!!!!!!!

SUK :wavey:

I thought that this would be a great way to use my 1000th post

Won't modify my car until out of warrenty if at all.

The T&C's are fairly straight forward, even if they are being slightly b*stardly about the way they go about it.

SUK :wavey:

997th??

997th??

WTF how does your post count drop?? I was on at least 1006 yesterday :rubchin:

Still says 998??

Mine post count dropped yesterday too.

Not sure why

On the post count issue, it'll be mods tidying up old posts and threads, more than likely.

Oh and SUK - I've got a VW now so please ignore me. Think of me as big brother's big brother ;)

Steve

I'm sure i've also read somewhere on here that "Was it You" posts disappear from your count after a certain time too?

Or have I dreamt that?

Nope, you are right. Although we don't often run the maintenance scripts to update postcounters, so it hardly ever happens. But theoratically speaking, once a post is deleted, you'll lose the postcount for it. It's only a number, so try not to worry about it too much.

You don't understand Q. It is not mearly a number, you post count carries a level of Kudos, a degree of social standing within the Briskoda community if you will. God knows I've been striving to reach the dizzy heights of 1000 for some time and to have such achievements "adjusted" is just wrong ;):D
