2 broken remotes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm a newbie looking for a bit of help.

I've got an 02 reg Fabia 1.4 16v saloon.

I've had the car for about 18 months now and in that time, BOTH my remotes have stopped working.

It starts off with the range not neing as good, then they just stop, but the lights on the key still flash.

When it happened with the first key I replaced the battery and that didn't work. Took it to the dealer who said it was knackered (no explanation) and that a new key was needed costing silly money, so I thought I would start using the spare instead.

Anyway, spare has been fine for about a year, but the other week that packed up in the same way too, I've changed the battery, the light flashes on the key but no response.

I'm going to order a new key (HOW MUCH?????????????!!!!!!) but I don't want to be in the same situation in another year.

Anyone else experianced this? Many thanks in advance.

When you replaced the battery did you do it quickly? Sounds like you took too long and it lost sync with the car. ;)

It'll probably tell you how to re sync it in the manual.

I've had some funnies with my key, but a new battery has fixed it.

Could be worth trying to resync the key - at the very least the dealer should be able to help if the manual is not forthcoming.

You could also check with a local motor electrician - if you have one around. Any where that fit's alarms, immobs, AC etc should be able to assist.

Thanks for your replys.

I tried resynching both keys last night by doing what it said in the manual about pressing the button on the key, then unclocking the door with the key within a minute. I tried it with both buttons on both keys, but the lights on the key fob just flash and nothing happens.

I wonder if it's maybe somthing to do with the key getting confused by my mobile, I often keep the pair together at night.
