Superb Rear Park Pilot

Featured Replies

Anyone else had a problem with their 2016 Superb L&K Estate's rear park pilot.

Because it wasn't working I reversed into my garage wall and damaged the bumper. Had it been working it would have automatically stopped the car as the L&K has AEB on reverse as well. The one time I needed it, it failed!

Note it had earlier been in the car wash and I've heard some stories a jet wash can mess up the sensors.

MY16 doesn't have Manoeuvre Assist which stops (in case of emergency) the car during slow parking manoeuvres.

Even my MY17 doesn't have it.

Just the usual PDC 3.0 that gives u audio & visual feedback.  No braking.

Manoeuvre Assist was introduced from MY18 onwards.

Hi,

The automatic brake in reverse to avoid hitting something only works in a certain range of speed.

To slow, or to fast, it does brake.

As far as I can remember, it works between 5 and 15 km/h. But not 100% sure of these figures. I let our experts confirm.

I had seen this on a Youtube Video with a VW Passat (if I remember well), but I can't find it back. 😐

Yes this is my understanding. My 2016 model didn’t have it (just beeping) but my 2023 model does have it. It has saved me from reversing into a car in a supermarket car park when I was distracted by pedestrians. But is also a nuisance at the gliding club where it objects to reversing into long grass, and woe betide me if I try to reverse my glider trailer without connecting the electrics!

I never faced that with mine. Did you try at slower speed? As explained above, this doesn't activate under a certain threshold value.

My 2020 - same experience as Nicknorman - tried reversing boat trailer onto slipway ( electrics disconnected) soon after I bought the car and wasnt aware of all these “safety?” Systems.

Bloody thing kept emergency braking every time I very slowly moved a couple of feet in reverse - it was suspecting I was about to hit this boat.
honestly it took 20 minutes to manoeuvre about 40 feet backwards.

same when doing 3 point turns on country lanes when it stops me reversing into the thigh-high long soft grass behind.

I now know how to turn this “ feature” off.

If your car is 2017 it won’t have that feature.

It's a MY2018, built in Q4 2017.

@Bap33 - as previously mentioned, Manoeuvre Assist was introduced from MY18 onwards.

MY15/16/17 doesn't have it, sadly.
