Video input to Infotainment?

Featured Replies

I know on previous Audis I’ve owned, the 5F (MMI) units have sometimes had AV inputs you can select, used with stuff like TV Tuners, maybe DVD players etc.

Anyone know if there’s something similar on the MIB3 fitted to an Octavia 4 VRS?

I am half thinking of a project and it’s depend on getting the video into the screen.

Thanks!

Video can be played from a file on a USB-C source connect at the ports in the front console. However, the image is not displayed whilst the car is moving, audio continues.
This was the case on earlier versions but haven’t proven it on v1941.

Now the proud owner of a 2024 Octavia 1st Edition and messing about with the infotainment system I see a Media Source but the car doesn't appear to have any permanently inserted inputs for things like SD Cards, and the online manual is useless.

Anybody know how you add albums? Do you temporarily plug in a Type C USB and transfer to local storage?

Either a usb-c stick, CarPlay/Android-Auto, or some other Bluetooth source.

No internal storage, no SD slot.

I normally use CarPlay and stream audio but also have a usb stick in one of the front ports.

That's a bit rubbish, as it takes up my wife's charging slot and looks a bit rubbish.

If I can find a card small enough I might give it a go, the indexing was terrible on my old Octavia and put me off using it.

Thanks for the info. 👍

I use a USB A memory stick plugged into an A to C convertor in the front.  The software finds it and allows me to select by album, artist, genre etc.  I can also access it directly as I can select USB source from the top level of the selection menu.

Video is available when stationery by selecting USB as the source and swiping left on the right hand side of the screen.  There have been earlier questions on this if you search.

I have a cable plugged into the other USB C socket and a second cable for charging plugged into one of the rear sockets and then stored in the tween seats box.
