Future Kodiaq models

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been answered before,  I was wondering what the speculation of the engine line-ups will be for the Sportline, L&K and VRS.

I def want the plug-in version but curious if they will stick with the 1.5 engine

I was previously looking at the phev Rav4 worth 306bhp.

For the first time, the popular SUV will also be available as a Kodiaq iV with plug-in hybrid powertrain. With a combined output of 204 hp, it promises an all-electric range of over 100 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. For the first time, the Kodiaq also sees mild-hybrid technology: that’s the 150bhp 1.5 TSI model. The engines’ line-up is completed by a 2.0 TSI petrol engine and two 2.0 TDI diesels, delivering 150 and 193 hp respectively. All units are coupled to a DSG automatic transmission and the top petrol and diesel variants have all-wheel drive as standard.

The only engine missing off that list is the one that will power the new vRS - I would expect that to again be a pure petrol in the region of 260hp... in fact, if it's not the exact same engine they put in the new Golf GTi, it'll be a surprise. Pretty sure Skoda won't be using anything more powerful - so if you want that, it's a Tiguan R for you.

At this rate, the L&K will be £50k+ and the vRS £55k+ when they land.

I remember when everyone* was up in arms about the original diesel vRS pushing Skoda over the £40k mark.

My first Skoda with L&K spec was a mk1 Octavia estate 1.8t auto, think it was £17k ish (forgotten exact, it was long time ago, a Y-reg from 2001, but was then the most expensive Skoda in UK), so looks like getting on for quadruple the price in 23 years.

I had my car serviced today and the dealer said the new Vrs and L&K details should be out at the end of the year
