Faded Roofbars

Featured Replies

Hello,

My roofbars are now grey.

Is there an easy way to darken or even blacken them?

Thanks

On my 1U5, I had them powder coated in RAL 9005 satin black and painted the plastic parts myself in Würth RAL9005 satin black. I cleaned the trims with cellulose thinners and misted the paint on from approx 30cm to give a textured finish. Würth also sell VW 110 satin black (really a very dark grey) and VW115 dark grey which come in handy doing restoration work.

The worst part of the job is dropping the roof lining to access the screws.

Yes is it very easy. You just need to apply a good car polish.

I use Armour All Shield and it lasts over three years between applications.

I believe it is now even available in Halfords.

Very good in hot climates such as California.

Used on  the car body, it produces a finish that is very shiny and dirt just washes away next time it rains.
