Octavia IV FL Infotainment apps missing

Featured Replies

Hi,

I hope this is the right place to ask, cause I have a problem, and no amount of browsing over the past two days has managed to shed light on what I'm doing wrong.

I just got a delivery on my Octavia IV FL, and, for the love of it, I can't seem to find a way to install any of the system apps. All I have is the aircon one. No radio, no nav, or any of the other apps that I see on screenshot when I google on the subject, for that matter. I have a Skoda Connect sub, and the android app on my phone, and the phone automatically starts android auto on the infotainment when I start the car, but that's it, and I seem limited to using whatever is available through my phone. Probably worth mentioning that I can't start the Laura voice assistant either.

Short of going back to the dealer, do I have any options to troubleshoot this on my own?

Welcome to the forums.

I'm not familiar with the FL versions but from what you describe things don't sound quite right. Perhaps force a restart of the infotainment system (typically hold the on/off button for 10 seconds or so with the ignition on). My only other thought is were you able to create & login as the main user of the car? If not, then the dealer will probably need to assist in verifying your ownership and authenticating via the Škoda servers.

Hope you can get it sorted soon...

Thanks, I will try that. My unit doesn't have any buttons on it, just the touchscreen, but I will look around in the menus for a way to restart. I think I am the main user, but not sure - we set the profile with one of the boys from the Skoda parking lot, he was guiding me step by step. Is there a way to do a factory reset, too? Maybe I can attempt that as well.

Just did the restart thing. Did not help, still only the Air Conditioning app is there. Then I initiated a factory reset and upon reactivation realised something - the car asked for at least two keys to verify I am the owner. I have two of them, with the third being at the dealer as I have a lease plan for part of the car value (paid half upfront). When the Skoda guy and I were doing the initial activation, we used two keys, not all three. Could this have been the reason?

I have only two keys, so no idea if the third will be needed.

Sorry to say I am out of ideas now 🙄Hope you can get it sorted.

You add things to your screen by holding a finger on the screen so that it enters the edit mode.

Have you tried that and then adding everything you want….. don’t forget you can keep adding things onto second and third and fourth etc….. screens.

In my case I have e button on the top right that initiates the Edit mode. But there is nothing to do there. I think I'm just going to go to the dealer and see what they can do. Hopefully, they would be willing to solve this.

Do you have a photo of the screen showing what it looks like?

Not seen one with an edit button.

***EDIT*** Just realised you have a FL car so it's the new Infotainment screen rather than the existing screen.

I take it the Infotainment section of the user manual has been no help in setting up the Infotainment screen?    USER MANUAL

Sure. Here is a photo of the screen. When I click on Edit, the only option I have is to reset my favorites (as if there is something to favor). Manual-wise - the first round of troubleshooting was with the booklet but it was useless.

I also went through the steps in this topic:

But a lot of the suggested config menus are not present on my infotainment unit.

Last night I wrote an email to Skoda. Hopefully, someone would see it and reply at some point.

Spoiler

This is what mine looks like - Mk4 FL which I got last Tuesday.

I can't say I have ever used the screen

  •   If I want Air Conditioning, I use the CLIMA hardware button shown below the screen.
  •   If I want Navigation, I just use Android Auto.
  •   If I want the voice assistant, I say "Hey Laura", or press the button on the steering wheel (left, top left)

My estate is the same color as yours :)

But you have the 13" screen. Mine is the 10". I will check if I can find a Laura button on the wheel, but when I call "Hey, Laura!", nobody answers. Neither Laura Linney, nor Laura Dern. And definitely no Laura Prepon...

In case someone's wondering how this is going - for the last three days I've been involved in a lengthy discussion with the Skoda support people. The going back and forth has so far produced zero troubleshooting and barely just established that I am not yet another idiot complaining without merrit. Same photos and screenshots were attached multiple times, and info already in the email - rehashed for lack of reading patience from the Skoda staff. Now my issue was transferred to "the relevant team", whatever that means. Got my trigger thingers ready to copy-paste already given info and attach again my already provided photos.

Fingers crossed this will be resolved and my apps will show up by the time the Octavia's warranty period runs out.

Thanks for the update @balduranbg; really hope Śkoda can get it sorted for you.

Were the dealership unable to progress it any further in the end as they should have been the quickest way forward for this rather than e-mailing Skoda UK.  Each time I've collected a new car I've been given the option of having someone go through operating the HU and what can be done and setup with it. (Either without asking for them to do it but definitely after asking).
