Changing steeeing wheel

Featured Replies

I am intrested in upgrading my steering wheel in my Skoda fabia 2. I found a good cheap s.w. from octavia A7 but I am not sure if it will fit. Both wheels dont have commands on them so my only concern would be central whole (bolt patern etc). I cant find anything on the internet so any help would be much appreciated.

Mate, they should be the same, but wind the drivers window down, disconnect the battery, pop the airbag out - you will need to have the key in the ignition to turn the wheel so it doesn't lock, and allow you to get to the 2 openings to unclip the airbag retaining springs- undo the bolt and have a look.

What have you lost, a little time if it's wrong or nothing if they are the same and you can swap it!

When you put everything back together, reconnect the battery, then reach through the open window and turn the key to ACC. It just keeps you out the car if the airbag does, for some bizarre reason, go off.

I've changed loads of steering wheels and never had an airbag go off once, when I've put it all back together but I still do the above - everytime.
