Electrical and engine issues

Featured Replies

My Mrs bought a 2021 Fabia monte carlo 1.0 tsi in may of 2024 from a dealership, when she first got it it ran smooth with no issues. One morning a few weeks ago on startup it was very loud, it sounded to me that the waste gate had stuck open, after a few revs it snapped shut and the car ran fine. since then at lower revs the car is very loud (reminding me of a diesel) and the engine vibrates a lot, no knocking noise, however if you catch the revs just right you hear a kind of rattling crunch.

Not only this but intermittently the drivers window refuses to go down or up without turning the car off and back on again.

The central locking when driving will lock if you press the button on the dash, then unlock a couple seconds later.

The infotainment screen will randomly go black, but if you remember where to press on the screen you can still operate it.

The seat belt alarm will randomly go off and keep alarming until you turn the car off and back on again, even with all the seat belts plugged in and nothing on the seats.

The dealership refuses to admit anything is wrong and regarding the noise and vibration of the engine, they pulled a similar year with the same engine and mileage next to it to demonstrate that all fables are loud and vibrate a lot and the other car was running smooth and great and they could see no difference.

An independant mechanic had a look at the car and said that there is something obviously mechanically wrong and skoda should fix under warranty. does anybody have any suggestions about what could be causing these faults so i can either fix this myself or get another garage to fix it as the particular dealership i am dealing with is now dodging calls and being awkward?

Thanks

Welcome.

Did you buy it from a Skoda Dealership, and if so is it a Skoda Approved Used car?

How many miles has it done?

You are maybe going to have to go to another Skoda Authorised Repairer / Dealership.

?

Can you say what Dealership Group you bought the car from?

It was a Skoda approved used car from Johnsons Skoda, it has done around 22,000 Miles. I was thinking try a different dealer, the Mrs wants it gone and i don't blame her, so its either battle the dealership for them to take it back or try and sort it and part ex it.

Could you video these intermittent problems when they play up as proof.

I think your wife is right and you should bounce it back and get something else.  But you could as suggested try another VWŠkoda Dealership and see if there are still any decent Dealerships (garages/mechanics) still about generally.

I've always found VW 4-pots, (let alone 3) to be noisy to me and I'm used to BL engines but noisy is different to faulty.  You could do a Google search and see if there were any other 2021 1.0 TSI Fabias with similar issues and what the outcome was.  The issues might be VWŠkoda build or from something in the history of that particular car, not that it matters if it can be satisfactorily sorted.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.
