Connecting my laptop.

Featured Replies

Just a quick question. Since buying the car, I have had a problem, where the ABS light occasionally comes on. It has always reset when I turned the ignition off and back on but today it came on and stayed on. I have VCDS Lite on my laptop so I was going to have a go to see if it will narrow down the problem (I would suspect a sensor or sensor connection). Is there a particular protocol for connecting the laptop to the OBD port? Ignition on. ignition off, battery disconnected, fingers and toes crossed or is it not an issue?

Ignition on.

Came out this morning to pop to the local shops and the ABS light went out as soon as I drove off! I suspect a dodgy connector as usually, if a solid-state electronic device (sensor) fails, that's it. If I was able I would get under the car with my tin of Servisol, split the connectors and give them a good spray.

The ABS problem has obviously cleared itself, nothing to worry about until it comes on again.

That's my plan.
