Petrol TSI 204/265hp questions

Featured Replies

Hey forum,

Can't find trusted source to feel confident...so decided to ask here.

1. Are TSI 204 and TSI 265 direct successors to EA888 gen 3?

2. Do they have aluminium engine? (Better not but they diesel 200hp was changed for bad)

3. I assume lower power can be driven with lower RON fuel, where 265 requires only premium fuel.

4. Do they both have 4 injectors or 265 has 8 (as it was 280hp version before)?

5. Which DSG (DQxxx?) is mated to these engines?

I know it's early for conclusions but I was told these engines were installed in Audi few years ago.

Cheers!

Does anybody already has personal impressions?

Typo

I have the 265hp and the octane recommendation is 95. I am running 98 for now though.

There is a rumour that the intake manifold injectors have been removed from this EA888.4 engine which were present in EA888.3 engines.

@JuSko Open the bonnet and you know. Intake manifold injecors can usually easily be seen.

Does anybody has a information about the reliability?

Oil burning, some other issues?

I believe that the engines are the same in Superb 4, Octavia 4 facelift and in Kodiaq 2.

@Niksan

The 265 HP engine has been present on Audi for several years, and I haven’t heard of any issues. The engine code is DNPB if you need more information.

Yes, it is the same engine found in the Octavia 4 FL and Kodiaq 2.

Oil consumption in the first 12,000 km is minimal, approximately 100 ml, according to the infotainment display, as the dipstick is no longer present.

Thank you very much for the information!

Does anybody know something for 2.0 TSI 204 hp?

At least on the Evo4 EA888 2.0 TSI 204 I saw they removed the MPI intake injectors.

Look here at the engine , 15:03:

The later Evo 4 EA888's in the Mk3 lost MPi.

My 2024 Mk3 certainly doesn't have MPI.

Time will tell if the measures to mitigate carbon build up have been successful but haven't heard any horror stories and the Evo4 has been out a few year now.

Yes no MPI, also evo4 is back to a metal sump instead of plastic.

Major changes are switch from IHI to Garrett turbo, much here fuel pressure, refined variable valve timing and revised in head exhaust manifold for faster warmup and better efficiency
