Removal of buttons from infotainment system

Hi I want to get the TV tuner superb but I prefer the unit with the dials and buttons. Can anyone tell me what year the unit changed. Would the old unit fit in superbs with the newer head unit. I would prefer to get a TV tuner in my octy 3 but I don't think that is an option

With the Columbus units in the Superb, MY15 to MY17 had the MIB2 units paired with the 8" screen with buttons.

MY18 to MY19 has the MIB2.5 units paired with the 9.2" screens with no buttons.

 

Sadly u can't run the MIB2.5 units with the 8" screens.  

Unless u downgrade the glovebox unit to a MIB2.  I'm not sure if this possible.

    Are there some apps which would have the TV channels you might want which you could stream to the cars display or watch via CarPlay/Android auto instead?
