Space in dash to run wires

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm installing an aftermarket Android Head Unit  in my 2008 Octy Mk2;- awaiting a CanBus adaptor for the Reversing Trigger etc- (after which i will do a full installation post)

I want to put the GPS ariel/receiver on front of the dashboard  and I thought about putting the wiring through the interior dash and out where this temp sensor is.

However it's very tight

and the AC ducts are in the way. (and the ducts seem to be not joined/leaking which is another story)

Has anyone bothered doing it this way - or should I just go the long way around and expose a little more wire?

thanks

There is no need to run wires over the top of the dash, if you pull up the top vent in the middle of the dash you can put the gps antenna under there with some double sided tape, it will still pick up satellites with no problem that's where I fitted mine.

Mine is magnetic and it sits on a bit of metal under the centre vent. Picks up the GPS signal great, no need to have it on top of the dash.
