Juddering / Vibration in gear 4 or higher

Featured Replies

Hi all, recently bought an 08 Octy VRS 2.0TDI (6 speed) and I’ve noticed that going downhill or driving at speed (45/50 or faster), there is a fair bit of juddering from the engine that I can feel through the steering wheel (if I let go, the wheel shakes a bit) and can slightly hear it too.

It is not noticeable at all when driving through town at 30 or less. My first thought was DMF but I would have thought that was a constant juddering. I’m at a complete loss here as it’s my first VRS.

Any help here would be hot!

In my BKD 2.0TDi I won't do 30 or less in 4th gear unless on a slight decline. My engine just doesn't like it. 20mph in 3rd is just about do-able on a flat. Not sure if 8v engines will fare a bit better.

What makes you think it is the engine and not wheel balance?

Wheel balance issues don't show themselves in town driving. Does it go away when drive through the shake to a higher speed?
