Waiting for Delivery

Paintwork feels like it doesn't have anything on it to protect it, so will defo be detailing it at weekend. Just took youngest out in it, and although respectful of the first 1000 miles gave it a little kickdown; it makes noises! Haha, still smiling now.

1500 mile run is defo enough of a drive to get used to it and for it to sort itself out! Tiny bit jealous, hope you guys have a good time

Yeah, if you’ve not driven in France, it’s so different from the UK, despite mostly being 2-lane ‘motorways,’ they’re practically empty! We do 200 miles to get to the Tunnel then 455 to our place. The 455 in France is so much less stressful than the 200 in England! (And a slightly higher speed limit!😊)

  • Gents, she’s here…and she’s beautiful! 😍 say hello to ‘Myra’ 🤣

  • nEw cAr DaY! It's a beaut, only managed to take it for a 13 mile drive. It's filthy already, but that's the time of year (and maybe having brightly coloured car). It did take me a few minutes or sort

  • I can understand your excitement @BazGee! I am also fully invested in the hype train, with delivery coming next Tuesday. Same day as having boiler replaced and meant to be working from home all-day...

Not sure if I’m missing something, but I don’t think I have 12v socket in the front of the car. I checked the rears using the 12v socket in the boot. Both rears were overinflated by 2 Bar. Guessing that the fronts will be similar, but my compressor won’t stretch to the fronts!

No, there isn’t one in the front, just the mini usb’s next to the mobile tray.

That's really weird...
All car compressors I've seen (and there's been quite a few) had a long-enough cord to reach all wheels from a single 12V socket.
For your Octavia: did you try to use a shorter path for the cord? You can fold one of the rear seats, and go from the 12V in the trunk, inside the car over the rear seats, and out the front door - to the corresponding front wheel. I imagine that is the shortest path.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve upgraded to a cordless compressor, with rechargeable battery, which should solve the problem. My Mk8 GTi had a socket in the boot and one just behind the handbrake/hill hold switch.

Ooh, I didn't think to check the length of the cord. Like you @SkOmk4, all previous ones used/seen have plenty of wire (and are often tricky to wind back up neatly).

I haven't had the pleasure of driving in France, but defo sounds nice if it has all those miles of stress free driving @BazGee. Most of my next trips out with the car are to basketball/football training or matches for the kids,

At 2 Bar over it must be a hard ride and over pressure for what the tyre can take.

Thanks. AG Falco

The car has arrived! Got to say, I agree with previous comments that it feels more refined and as if Skoda have listened to some of the negatives from the pre facelift. Really happy with the exhaust tone and lack of fake noise.

Two negatives I've noticed on the facelift in my opinion, no keyless entry on the rear doors (I did know about this beforehand) and I preferred the alcantara on the dash but certainly do not outweigh the pros.

And finally, my car is on the Bridgestones! My pre facelift was on Goodyears which I was impressed with. Hoping the Bridgestones are similar in performance.

Overall, very happy 😁

Is it clean enough for photos? Do you have two brollies? Why do we have 3 keys?!

These are the important questions

I will grab a photo which is not outside my house tomorrow and post it. It's clean enough for a quick pic. Undecided whether to remove the aero inserts. I don't actually mind them too much but I've already bought the hub caps etc.

And yes, 2 brollies and 3 keys! Also whilst I thought it was part of  the spec but didn't expect to receive it, nice to have the phone holder in the back of the front seat, reversible boot mat, nets etc.
