What oil type?

Featured Replies

Hello

What oil type (castrol) is correct for my car?

Superb 2021 2.0 TDI  147kw.

In my old superb 2016 i use castrol 5w30 507 00

Is in this new car new oil type in there?

Thank you

It might be using VW 504 00 / 507 00 now.  5w 30 FS III or 0w 30 FS III

or maybe someone used the VW 508 00 / 509 00,  0w 20 FS IV,      no harm in you using the older spec Long Life oil.

Now its in car 0w30.

So i have home 5w30 507 00 from old car.

Will be this 100% ok?

Manny thanx

Motul suggested that "specific 0w30 when I used selector menu. Also liqui moly suggested same viscosity as 0w30 top tec 4210.

If you search this oils on youtube and add "friction test" you can find to protection value.

On my new superb TDI (2024)  mk3 there's a sticker on the bumper beam & it uses 0W30.

I have high but regular oil consumption & I've asked the dealer if I can change to 5W30 as the previous engine.

He said technically yes but as my car is in warranty it would no longer be valid if the oil consumption issues get worse.

So I will stick with it for the first 3 years before I change.

@Gabbo  I would ask for the Specification shown in writing that 5w 30 FS III  can not be used because it is to VW spec VW504 00 / 507 00 just the same s 0w 30 FS III.

No way should it void a Warranty on a Euro 6 TDI.

Sounds like 'he' is repeating something he heard someone else say and they heard it from someone that knows nothing.

Agree, I had the same conversation with him because I wanted to change to 5W30 after the 3rd 1L "top-up" after 21k km

However, the garage is "monitoring" the consumption at the moment and has checked for leaks around the engine and into the exhaust system 3 times plus paid for the additional oil so I didn't push too hard.

As mentioned I plan to change to 5W30 in the future once they stop giving me free oil ;) at least for one fill to see if it improves the oil consumption (and doesn't affect the fuel consumption).
