Info on importing a car form cyprus

Featured Replies

Not something I'm considering but my Cretan father in law thinks I could save money by buying a car in cyprus and importing it myself. Now there's no way on earth I can be bothered with the hassle of such an adventure but SWMBO wants me to get some figures to show him why its a stupid idea.

So where can I find out how much a car (e.g. Furby vrs, Mazda 3 TS) would cost in cyprus - don't seem to be many cypriot dealer websites

and what sort of extra costs would be involved, e.g. shipping, taxes, uk conformity checks etc.

Anyone import a car a few years ago when it was worth the effort?

Just because it may be cheaper to buy it may not be cheaper in the long run..... an import could be more difficult to sell on and with reduced value, different/shorter warrenty?.... Also UK dealers won't take imports as a part ex (i know Honda won't, i'm only assuming on others) so when it comes time to sell you'd have to sell private.... i wouldn't buy a second hand import if i can get the same car as an official UK model... ;)

Motorpoint and co. are meant to import lots of vehicles from Cyprus, or certainly did a year or two ago, so I am sure that there can (sometimes) be money to be saved by doing it.

When I was looking into buying an impreza, you could import one for about

My friends in Cyprus have contacts, I can find out for you and let you know.
