The car is a 2020 Scala 1.0 TSI and has done 16,000 miles. It's had two Skoda services early on in it's life followed by a couple of services from non-Skoda garages. I've recently aquired the car and I'm thinking I'll go with an annual service and MOT with a chap locally who has been great with our previous cars. He's happy for me to give him the oil I want to use. Would I be right in thinking that VW 504 00 oil (e.g. Castrol EDGE 5W-30 LL) would be appropriate? Or should I go with VW 508 00 - Castrol EDGE 0W-20 LL IV?

It will be appropriate.  Just not the recommended oil by Skoda.   That is the VW508 00 /509 00 so yes 0w 20 FS IV. 

 

If sticking with Long Life oil why not VW 504 00 / 507 00, but 0w 30  FS III   Fine for Fixed ot Variable service intervals.

(I would be doing fixed service intervals and non Long Life oil  so VW502 00.  5w 40 FS, )

I've just bought the above for my 1ltr Kamiq, assuming you have the same engine, it will be fine.

If you've not bought the oil yet I got a decent price for 5 litres off eBay seller pulman-vwg enough in that fir anoil change and any top ups.
