DIY Dent Removal Kits

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anyone has any experience of DIY Dent removal kits?

Most seem to comprise glue sticks and suction cups along with a puller.

I have a small dent (about 4mm in size) on the leading edge of my Fabias bonnet about 1 inch above the headlight. Caused by a stone thrown from a lorry on the M1

Are they worth a go or is it better getting ChipsAway, DentDevil etc in to do it?

I also would like to know of anyDe Denting ,as I have in the hatch a trolly dent approx 25mm long. Anyone help?

I created the ding shown below by backing into a supermarket bollard. My local DentsAway boys had to fill it because there is a strengthening beam behind the number plate, so they couldn't push it back out. Yours may be the same.

does look a bit too good to be true - but I might just give it a go. Found some reviews on amazon.com - a lot are saying its rubbish but there a few that seem to have got the technique right who say its excellent:

not sure - might be worth a go....

Umm - now I am sure it is too good to be true! Most of the reviews seem to say its not great!

Well, I swallowed the financinal pill and got Chips Away to remove all the dents today.

They managed to get them all out, even the tricky bonnet edge ding, so the Furby looks as good as new again!

Definately the best way - wouldn't want to risk using those one of those kits for the first time on a good car. I know the reviews were a bit dodgy, but some seemed to be people who may not have followed the instructions properly.

I'm still intrigued to know whether they do work - did you see how the chips away guy removed the dents in yours?

Been advised by a friend of mine in the trade to get it done by the experts, as these diy tools have drawbacks.

£6.99 in Aldi.

If there is just the one bridge shown on the box, a hot melt gun and some glue sticks then you can get a lot more for your money from Ali-Express.

Mind you for a few pounds or €uros more there will be a set including another must have tool, then another for a few £s €s more, you can easily spend a lot more to make up a useable working PDR toolkit.

One of the stripy lights and mirrors is a must IMO, it will be my next investment.
