No heat driver side

Featured Replies

Looks like i have the same issue as the below

No heating on the driver side, the heater matrix must be the issue

Was advised against buying a cheap part due to the silicone content and potential to burst in the car. Should i be buying genuine or is valeo or mahle ok around the £100 mark. I see the cheap one advised around £50

Just had my matrix replaced on my 2016 2.0 TDI as was blocked. £600 at my indy. Matrix was £200 alone, coolant flushed and they used vacuum to refill the coolant.

It needs diagnostics to ensure bleeding of all three coolant circuits is done fully to remove all air. The auxiliary pump runs on for 150miles after diagnostics sets bleeding function even if car is turned off it's still remember what miles it's done.

Happy to say car is warm now. Lived with it for three years having no heat from drivers side...

What part are you referring to? If it's the expansion tank, get one without the silica bag inside and upgrade to G12+ coolant instead.

If you can see or feel the silica bag inside your expansion tank, pull it out.  That way at least you'll know if it has actually ruptured, or not.  You might still have a blocked matrix of course, but if it's not ruptured, you could reset your heater flaps, and see if that's a factor, and you won't have the silica bag in the tank any more.

Plenty of us on here have removed the bag - it's not hard.  Does depend on what tank you have though.  My 2018 Golf (so same era) had a bag in, which I oiked out, and if I can do it, anyone can!

I believe you need to look at the pipework at the matrix to determine which one you have. You can see they have different inlet and outlet positions.

I also believe that you must replace the clamps for the pipe fittings they are not reusable.

I thought my issue was only related to driver side not getting hence, new matrix would fix it.

Since its quite warm i didnt think it would be an issue but now i find passenger side is not cold enough, driver side is nice and cold

So is the problen still the matrix, does it affect how cold the AC is?
