Do I need to get specific spares direct from Skoda?

Featured Replies

Hi. I’ve just recently purchased a 2016 Superb Estate1.4 TSi and the handle on the inside of the pass through hatch in the rear seats has broken (it can still be opened from the boot side fortunately), but does anyone know if I wanted a replacement if I can get just the plastic handle or if more is needed eg the full mechanism? Also, can this be sourced from a breaker or would I need to contact Skoda and their spares department? Thanks in advance.

I don't know what part you are talking about but generally you can buy parts from other suppliers, eBay. "scrappies",  Sometimes though for some parts it's less hassle and same sort of cost to go to the parts department of your local Dealership.  For plastic parts s/h age wear and tear needs factoring in with parts that can be stress through use or misuse.  The VW part numbers are usually on plastic parts so that a good thing to start searches with.  The car's VIN is sometimes needed for some parts and part number can change or be superseded.

You may be as well to look  and/or ask at the threads in the Superb 2016 forum in case it's a commonly broken parts and more information readily to hand. - Skoda Superb Mk III (2015 - 2023) - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/299-skoda-superb-mk-iii-2015-2023/

Thanks very much for your input! I’ll have a closer look and see if I can find a part number stamped anywhere on the broken bit and see where it leads! 👍

This assumes that the part that is broken is available separately and not just as a part of an assembly.  This is where talking to someone that has the full parts list and diagrams in front of them and can see any variations, like the Dealership parts department, is very useful but do check price as VW can want some very high prices for their plastics and reasonable alternates may be available at reasonable cost - don't go for really cheaper plastic as often they can work out more expensive when you have to replace them sooner or they might not ever fit or work properly in the first place.  Also with parts sometimes "Genuine" can just mean counterfeit so buy from reliable sources

Good luck.
