dashboard icons signals which door is open 
 

both end reading lights work and the middle light works if manually using slider 

 

is there a microswitch located somewhere in the door? same as 2007 fabia?

 

or could this be controlled via VCDS

Taking the light down has nearly fixed this issue with the slider switch 

 

all works however doesn’t turn off after entering and starting car
