Hi all, 

 

only had my Octavia VRs a few weeks and after having a new battery fitted last week, I’m now having an issue with the electric tailgate. 
 

it beeps as it opens (which I know is normal) but sometimes I get an higher pitch beep (almost like a warning chime) once it’s been opened. Just trying to find if anyone has this or any possible reasons before I ring the dealership up again!

@Danny147 I've not had this specific issue. Sometimes when I push the button to close the tailgate, it will refuse to close and at the same time beeps 3 times in quick succession at a higher pitch than the usual tailgate opening sound. The indicators also flash rapidly at the same time at it beeps.

 

I normally just wait a few seconds, push the button again and it closes without issue.

Maybe it thinks the tailgate is obstructed or you're standing too close and is warning you? Does the manual have anything to say about three beeps from the electric tailgate?

Sounds like you just have opening limit set, so gate won't open higher. I don't remember how to reset it, but car's manual should have it.

Hold the button in for 3 seconds so you get the 3 beeps. I’ve done this 3 times but to no avail. Keep getting the beep

Mine only beeps when I use the remote to open it, if i just use the button on the boot itself then it doesn’t beep. 
 

However I did used to have the issue of the boot just randomly opening itself of its own accord (no, I definitely didn’t sit on the remote or anything like that). Thankfully that seems to have stopped now. 
 

These cars are absolutely full of issues like this, the tech on them is a pain in the arse.

Yeah, as I’m discovering having only had the car just over 3 weeks. They are horrific. My first and last Škoda for sure.

Everybody tells me that this is just how it is with modern cars, lots of tech and it doesn’t always work as intended, but like you I won’t be getting another Skoda, I’ve been massively unimpressed with both the car and Skoda themselves from start to finish.

which car do you have? I have the Octavia vrs mk4 in blue. Lovely looking car but find all the tech annoying as hell. Seem

ti have some sort of warning light every day. Unimpressed with the ride quality too. It’s not a patch on my bmw 3 series I had for 6 years.

Mk4 VRS here too, estate. To add to my list of dislikes mine is a hybrid (cos company car) so it’s pretty boring to drive too, really not sporty at all. 
 

As a positive it is a good looking car, and the interior is nice (apart from the tech gremlins!). Mines been back to Skoda for a number of issues, and my overall impression of Skoda is not good.
