New owner Bluetooth Help !

Featured Replies

Hey all

First post here

I've just helped a friend purchase a 2011 Fabia vRS in Green with a Black Roof, it looks lovely and drives great, and has a full main dealer service history and was obviously owned by an enthusiast . Hopefully no oil consumption issues, or they are manageable  !

I unfortunately made an assumption about the Audio/Navigation that it had Bluetooth. It has an RNS 310 AMUNDSEN head unit with a PHONE button and phone symbol on the steering wheel controls which I assumed meant it had Bluetooth.

It has taken me a couple of hours of Googling and reading to find it doesn't ..... the phone button just mutes the Headhunt and there is nothing in the MFD menus

So what's the best option to add BT, she really needs Audio Streaming as well as handsfree, and the factory nave is sufficient for her needs and she like the directions on the MFD

I'm unsure of wether the car is a facelift or not (it does not have a black grill and headlights) and there is a lot of contradicting information over what works and what doesn't depending on the year

Am I correct in thinking :

I can get the Bluetooth module that would have been fitted under the drivers seat RHD ? and the appropriate loom and a MIC to fit into the overhead console. Does this unit offer Audio Streaming as well as handsfree ? Will I need to code with VCDS ? If so which part number do I need ?

or

I can get an RNS 315 with a MAC address on the side signalling it has BT and then I might as well find one with DAB as well. Can this be from any SKODA ie an Octavia or Yeti or Roomster ? I will only need to fit a MIC and a DAB Antenna  ? The car has an MFD display in the clocks and would like to keep the directions from the NAV and have the steering wheel controls still work etc will this need coding too ? I see there are possible incompatibilities with the MFD depending on year

or

Fit an aftermarket unit

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I should also mention the car has rear parking sensors which would also still need to work.

I've done the same thing bought an RNS315 with dab and fitted the Mic and dab antenna. That's probably your easiest route.

My car is 2011. Coding was needed to allow sat nav and phone integration.

Thanks I have now installed the RNS 315 I have BT DAB NAV etc all working.

I have NAV Directions on the MaxiDot Display like I had with the previous RNS 310, but I do not have the Phone menu ? Interestingly when there is a call I the car the number comes up on the display ?

Any idea what I need to do to get the Phone menu in the Maxidot and steering wheel phone buttons to work with the phone and speech function, at the moment the phone button works like it did previously working as a mute button ....

Sounds like you need to tell the car you have Bluetooth fitted. Are you using vcds to program the car.

I have been using OBDeleven, I will probably need to find someone with VCDS. It's just need to know what to tell the car I'm struggling to find an answer via the web.
