Camshaft adaptation intake bank 1 Quandry!

Featured Replies

Hey gang, please see pic below. I have the CHHB 2.0 TSI Engine 2016 - 120k miles.

Just took an obdeleven scan at operating temperature after a drive, whilst idling, at the intake phase bank 1 just to look at the degree of adaptation (timing chain stretch) out of curiosity. No real reason. I get the initial chain rattle on a cold start for half a second but I'm assuming that's normal.( Was in my previous fabia tsi with timing chain!)

What do you make of it? Can it really be only 0.3 degrees at this age/mileage?

Or have the parameters changed and it's actually the exhaust now? Or faulty intake sensor?

I'm going to look at the inspection hole this week out of curiosity and see how far the tensioner is out anyway. But would be good to know I'm on the right parameter just to periodically look at it and keep track.

Some say the module that emits the se readings changed from Bosch to some other brand in the Gen 3 EA888 and this reading isn't the correct one anymore. Any light to be shed by the great minds of BriSkoda?? Thanks 😁😁

I've no idea but always wonder about the margin of error in the VW computer programs and in the OBDEleven computer programs, in the sensors from new and age, wear and tear, you mentioned the change from Tosch.

As you may already know you do need to check the scan tool program for your model and year of VW is fully up to date each time before you use the scan tool and that the battery in that device and in the car are not in a low state of charge otherwise it errors might be introduced to the readouts and reports.  You could see what readings you get off a different scan tool and see if there's any variation between the two.

You may have already do so but if not you might get more more replies more quickly in the Superb Mk3 forum.  Here or there you'll want someone who's an experienced person with the engine and sensors and scan tools, hopefully they may see and reply to your post, good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Yes hopefully. I'm going to inspect physically anyway to be safe, hopefully it really is that good 😂
