Switched live - rear wiper?

Featured Replies

Looking for a switched live for a reversing camera install - sure I've heard somewhere that the rear wiper has a switched live in reverse - anyone know either way?

Yes, the black/violet wire to the rear wiper is ignition switched 12V, from fuse 47.

You are correct that it is switched in reverse, sort of. With the front wipers on, in reverse, the rear wiper will operate - however, this operation in the circuit takes place after the fuse, so as far as the fuse box concerned, it is an ignition switched live. If tapping down the circuit, then AFAIK you'll need to check out whether it still operates, in reverse, with the wipers off.

It doesnt operate in reverse if the wipers are off, so i'll wire it to the reverse light instead.

You could also look at the factory reverse camera - fuse 18 in the box. Not sure how viable it will be but might be worth looking at if you wanted to run it completely separate from the fuse box. Otherwise yes, just splice into the reverse light cable.
