Intake Air System Leak P2279 / EPC Error

Featured Replies

Hi good people of BRISkoda.

I've got an EPC error with my Karoq.  It's  a 6 week wait to get a booking at the local garage so I thought I'd have a crack at fixing it myself. Unfortunately it turns out I'm a total novice and need to ask for help.  I used a basic diagnostic tool which shows it as a P2279 error, when it's cleared it returns fairly quickly.  I've done a rubber glove test and it's got a strong vacuum.  The oil levels seem fine with no noticeable increased consumption.  Here are the model detail.

Model    KAROQ SE L TSI DSG / Year of manufacture    2020 / Gearbox    7 speed SEMI AUTO

I've inspected the engine and couldn't seen anything that looked out of place or producing a noticeable hissy sound.  Attached are a couple of images showing a tube that looked a little loose but I wan't sure if it was supposed to be like that.  What do you think?

Any advice on diagnosing this would be massively appreciated.

Thanks loads!

Will

Have you tried pushing the tube on further? There should not be any loose tubing.

Have you seen this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN32XePLHdk

Apparently the tube is fine.  I've found several videos where it looks exactly the same, it feels secure but looks sus...

Thanks for the link @Tetley, the dip stics and oil cap are clean and fitting securely.  Any other ideas welcome..!

On the left side of the engine, between the engine and the coolant bottle is a black square unit that ticks. follow ribbed tube that goes under the engine cover, they split on the bend.

Bingo!  Thanks MrAdamwood, you are a star!!!

I inspected the tube and while the ribbed tube looks ok the join has a hairline split.  I'm uploading a few pics to identify the part and also help anyone with similar issues.  I won't know if this was the issue but will definitely report back when I've fixed this.

Any ideas on what the part is called? I'm not sure if I should replace the whole tube (marked with a red line) or if I should just replace the plastic join tube. I feel like replacing the whole tube would be best.

Nice! no problem. I'd replace the whole pipe for peace of mind.

Did you find what part it was?

A bit of a late follow up... I needed to replace the PCB and the ribbed tubing. The PCB is a known issue and the part was updated a coupe of years back. The ribbed tubing was just unlucky...!

Had this not long ago, it makes the engine sound almost like its knocking.

Part number I replaced with was 05E133366AN
