Front window operation switch now affecting both drivers and passengers

Featured Replies

Following on with my issue of the drivers window being reluctant to operate when lowering as normal then requiring several switch operations to get it to rise, the drivers switch is now causing the same issues on the passengers side window.

Can anyone advise how to ease out the drivers switch plate from the door to allow me access to the wires.

Thanks

Martin.

I'd imagine it's the switches themselves. The lever mechanism inside the switch is rubbish, these fail or fall out of place. They can be repaired with steady hands.

The whole mechanism lifts up, then unplugged. If you're brave enough you can then proceed to open it.

Mine does the same. Started with the driver's side and spread to the passenger side. I'll leave it until it stops working before I take a look. I have heard that these switches can be a bit suspect.

There is a reset operation that can be done which may help. There are some posts on here which run through the process. Didn't work for me though.

I fixed mine last week. The carrier box that the switch assembly sits in is very weak where the assembly tabs lock into it. There is barely a mm of plastic holding the tabs in place which seems to break easily when pressing the switch down.

An easy fix with a dab of superglue and now all working perfectly. The hardest part is extracting the unit from the door shut with the spudgers.
