Window jammed

Featured Replies

I have what seems to be a regulator cable that's got tangled somehow.  The motor sounds like it is trying, I hear a grating noise, but the window doesn't budge.  I removed the door panel, and can push the window down manually so far, but not far enough, even with a fair amount of force, to get access to the plastic "dowels" that secure the window.  Its my first attempt replacing the regulator on a Skoda, although I have done it on other cars without much trouble so I thought this would be fairly straightforward.  I followed video instructions I found in this forum and it all looked easy enough but in the video there was nothing obstructing the window from sliding down to the required position.  Has anyone had a similar experience ?

Got it done. Wasn't too bad once I got the old one out. With the window taped up, I disconnected the motor and unscrewed the panel it was connected to. This allowed enough movement to access the cables and snip them. All pretty straightforward after that. It's working fine, although my part also cost only 30 quid so it may not last very long. But now it's been done it will be easier next time.

Well done ! Mine,

One of my windows did similar. The window just dropped one night and had to get a new window regulator.
