Headlights new to skoda

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a 2011 Superb elegance.  20ltr. Diesel 4x4 DSG

The drivers side headlamp has packed up.

I'm a bit confused as fog lamps were on permanently,  now not on.

It also says on start up about bendy lights not functioning.

So question is,  what headlamp bulb do I require?

And any steer on fogs and bendy lights?

Many thanks from a newbie.

If it's a 2011 Elegance with bending light function, then you'll need a D1S xenon bulb. It might not be the bulb that is at fault however, a faulty ballast can also cause the same issue

Fogs being on all the time will probably be the DRL. They are in the same housing as the fog lights and are easily mixed up.

Thanks. Makes sense about drls.

They don't appear to be working at all now.

Can they been tirned on/off manually?

Bit worried as lights appear to be an issue on this particular car.

DRLs can be switched on/off in the “Maxi-Dot” system. This is Skoda’s weird name for the informational display right in the middle of the instrument cluster in front of the driver.

Turn the ignition on, then press the “backward arrow” button on the right hand side of the steering wheel until you see the Main Menu.

Scroll down to Settings, and press the rotary control to enter that menu.

Scroll down to “Lights & Vision” and go into that menu.

Look for “Daylight. Dri. Light”. There’s a tick box next to it that shows whether your DRLs are active. You can change it by scrolling down and pressing the rotary control to toggle.

On a pre-facelift car (2013 or earlier), the DRLs are the outermost lights in the light clusters in the lower part of the bumper, next to the fogs. They’re only on with the ignition, and only when the headlights are OFF (either switched off manually or on auto when it’s daylight).

Bendy lights ............. Love it, Lol.

I assume correct name is Adaptive Xenon's ??? (It was on my A4)

I hope you don't need a new headlight, or if you do, I hope they are considerably cheaper than the Audi ones were ..........
