Fabia VRS, Major Fuel issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone here can help. In November of last year I bought a Fabia VRS off my mate, it was mapped to 220HP with popcorn and somehow shot flames, as he killed the BLT engine in it (headlift, drank oil, oil level got low and it ruined the bores). I stripped the car down and put a 'new' ASZ into it that was sold as a runner. Despite the fact it is an ASZ, it has been a pretty straight forward swap. The massive issue it is causing me though is that it barely runs and can barely start and rev up. Nearly everything is connected back up to it with the exception of coolant and an intercooler. After cranking for about 10 seconds it finally starts and pours out white smoke that reeks of diesel (I have constantly measured oil levels and it does not change). Watching the fueling quantities on VCDS, it flutters between 4 and 8 MG/S until it is revved and it jumps to around the 11MG/S mark. I have a PD105 BKC and when testing that it doesn't change from 20 MG/S when running at all. I put the original BLT injectors back into the car with the hopes it would make a difference but to no avail, it almost seems to run worse now and after passing 2k RPM it now throws an oil light (my guess being that it is like changing injectors and cranking for ages and the light comes on as it just isn't running well enough?) My only other thought at this point is whether it is the map that is still on the ECU, however it never had an issue running before it was killed.

I apologize if this is formatted poorly, I was just trying to put down any information at all that may be relevant. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm totally clueless as to where to go next. Thanks all

@Melon From the above, your "first mistake" was changing the BLT block, head and injectors for ASZ units without also changing the ECU to an ASZ one. Everything else follows on from that decision.
