Overhaul tips appreciated

Featured Replies

Hey everybody,

Thanks for reading my topic. I'm into a total overhaul of my O2 FL RS TDI from 2011. I wanted to switch to an O3, but I changed my mind as I read more and more of the O3's oil consumption issue.

So I want to overhaul my silver car like it's new. :)The next week I'm going for an ECU optimalisation. They told it will increase the engines total output to 200 HP. And I will get to repair the rock chips and scratches all over the car, and have it 3 step polished.

Also I want to change my Columbus media head unit into an android one, tinting the windows etc.

So my question are:

- What type of android head unit should I buy? I want to change the unit myself.

- Do you have pictures of your silver O2 with dark windows in the rear?

- what type of wheels look best on the car in your opinion?

- what other tuning or modding is worth the hassle in your opinion?

Any tips appreciated!

Welcome.  How many km has the engine done running as standard?  Is it a manual gearbox?

It is a 6 gang manual. The engine has 260 000 km on default settings.

I would not be remapping it.  Leave to die gracefully, maybe do many more km without issues.

But I don't want to let it die :D I want to use it for at least 3-4 more years. Why it's not worth it in your opinion?

Jo reggelt,  I mean let it live a life

Do you really need a bit quicker acceleration?   If the car runs we'll keep it doing so with servicing and no upping the power.   Just my thoughts.

Appreciated, thanks for your comment! :) They do VAG specific oil pressure settings too on the car too.

Do you have any tips or tricks for the car to get modded, tuned, etc?

Thats a fair mileage and if the clutch hasn't been changed in a while the 200HP might shorten what life it has left. I have a mate who took his to 230hp on a high mileage one just to see what it was like and ended up with new DMF and clutch quite quickly plus he went through front tyres like nobodys business. He demapped it back to sstock after wards.

I think what Ootohere is saying is that with such high Mileage, if you re map it and up the power you will hasten it's death.

In standard form it may have another 100K in it. Once you up the boost and fuel you may only see 10-20K before the donk, clutch or turbo bite the dust.

Entirely up to you but you may end up spending alot of money on a car which is then dead in a few months.

I'd just fix the things that anoy you for a minimum cost and run it out for a few more years in standard format.
