The new stud arrived today. Now all back together with new EGR and after resetting and taking a test drive the EML has not pinged on again.

Hopefully that's it!

Glad its fixed . You have had the usual nightmare of getting parts off an older car. At least its back together and no faults so far. Nothing better than a new shiny bit on car and problem solved.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the fault doesn't come back after all that.

Is that oil pressure switch plug fully on? Or is that an extra-long switch? It looks odd?

Exactly Alasdair. Makes the car feel fresher and reliable. It may be a chore sometimes to fix but then I remind myself that at least it's fixable!

It's a new one. It is on all the way as well - but it's definitely a bit longer. The old switch went flying during my assault on the seized stud.
