Very likely the car has never seen a 'detailing job' in its life yet, so you could work around a good polishing session with all the bells and whistles, and your car will be reborn!

Tilt, I agree, that is why I always put emphasis on "Assist". People should not let the cars drive themselves, is too unpredicable and thus dangerous.

When the day will come we will be like San Angeles in 'Demolition Man', then will see...

So another chat with the dealer this morning.

They will knock off additional £250 towards paint, change the car to fixed servicing and service it before collection.

I'll then take the PCP offer which gives another £250 off and gives me two free services. I'll then pay if off within 30 days.

So it looks like I'll be the new owner.

It was registered April 2024 so must have been one of the last.

Congrats! Looks like a solid purchase!

Also, the 2.0 DNFE engine is a bit special

I saw 2.0 and immediately assumed 280 🤦‍♂️

As a dealer, can they not sort the paint ???? Have they offered ????

If it is not a deal breaker anyway, then no worries.

I have issue trusting dealers to wash the car never mind letting them anywhere near it to do any correction.

I'll put the £250 extra discount towards getting it done.

In fairness if they’re not idiots they’ll just get someone in to do it. But there’s always the chance they’ll try and cut corners on cost.

As I always say on detailing matters, search on IDA or PVD websites in your area - that way you’re getting someone who’s trained and qualified and a member of a professional organisation. First thing I did when I did it

Couldn't agree more with the above ... is very gratifying to use the services of a good professional, that likes and knows the difficult job to keep a car's cosmetic appereance top-shape.

Which is not only for looks, but a good detailing also protects the "skin" and makes dirt removal easier.

And sometimes, it can provide fantastic opportunities!

I gave this week the Superb to my guy, to give it a long needed clean up of the interior. I have materials and tools to do it, but is like 5 degress and is not the moment ...

I go pick it up and we are discussing the next steps for bodywork, which I mentioned I will hold to do anything, as I have a door scratched and a side keyed over and I am arranging with the insurance for paint, and he claims "this? this I can buff it out! do not bother with paintshop, you know well ...."

I expressed disbelief, so he pulled out one of his Makitas and says "I will pass only one type on this section to show you"

I wil make it short ... I need to talk to my insurance guy to rediscuss the need to repaint the sides, which is not a need any longer!

The less my car(s) see the workshop, the better I do feel.

Then people talk about how useless is to polishing up a car ...

Hope is can be seen the "buffed out" section, towards the right side of the photo, rear door

Can def see where it disappears; that might be where it hasn't gone down to the primer, which means just the clearcoat can be polished to flat. Even where there are deeper scratches that go through the colour, you can still soften the edges of the scratch to minimise the light deflection and reduce how obvious it looks.

Thanks!

I will show again how it looks once the entire car gets treated.
