Replacing oil pressure switch(es)

Featured Replies

Hi folks - looking to replace the oil pressure switch (probably the high pressure one, brown I think, but may do both). Every now and then when accelerating, not long after starting and quite chilly, get the orange flashing coil warning light and reduced power until turn off and on again.

Getting the fault code on VCDS:

5580 - Oil Pressure Switch

P164B 00 [01100101] - Malfunction

..

Status of oil pressure switches-Bits 0-7: 5

..

So forum search suggests these switches, can't find part number, but gsf suggests these two, could anyone confirm these are the correct parts to swap out?: https://www.gsfcarparts.com/products/oil-pressure-switch-int51199

EDIT: internet searching suggests the following Skoda part numbers, can anyone confirm?

Brown: 04L 919 081 B

Green: 04L 919 081

Also, any exploded parts diagram to help me locate them in the engine bay would be VERY much appreciated!

TIA

Bumping this one with an update to see if anyone can confirm / has any views!

I had assumed it was only a problem when the car wasn't up to temperature, but it happened today 2.5 hours into a journey.

It does seem to only happen when accelerating moderately

@schmooser there are three oil pressure switches on this engine:

04L919081, a green one rated 0.3-0.6 bar,

03N919081, a grey one rated 2.0-2.7 bar, and

04L919081B, a brown one rated 2.3-3.0 bar

1st and 3rd are as you thought in your opening post.

I vaguely recall two of these being close to one another, and the third elsewhere, not as easily spotted.
