Had my MOT test today and all is well.

I got a printout of the Diesel Emission Test Results, as attached, but I was hoping to see "HC, Co or NOx" to let me know how well my engine was behaving as far as the emissions were concerned. Can anyone explain the various readings and which are the most important ones? I'd like to know if I just squeezed past or not! What are the upper limits?

NOx has never been measured at a UK MOT.

HC (hydrocarbons) and CO (carbon monoxide) are only tested on petrol engine cars. Lambda (air/fuel ratio control) is also only checked on petrol engine cars.

For diesels, the opacity (smokiness) of what comes out of the tailpipe is the only test.

Yours passed nicely with a 0.1 reading against a 0.33 maximum.
