Is it me?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I started off with an Octavia back in 2004 and went through the Skoda shopping list of Fabia, Superb, Kodiaq, Kamiq and now back to Octavia (Hybrid). I do have one small issue though and I cannot get it out of my head that it might be me. Since July last year there have been 5 instances of my Octy refusing to start. The general process goes like this, I drive car for 2 to 3 miles stop at shop or doctors etc for 10 to 20 minutes. I then get back in car and foot on brake pedal press start button and nothing, car does not start, the car must then be left for at least 15 minutes before trying again. Any attempt at less than 15 minutes and car will not start and the 15 minute (min) period starts again.

Further background is car is garaged and has good battery, I did have it checked via diagnostics at main dealer, surprise surprise no faults shown. Could it be me I have done my best to slow down the open door, get in, foot on brake pedal, press start button sequence but sometimes I go into auto mode and I fear I might be hitting start button just before brake pedal or very close together. But when I deliberately try the out of sequence operation eg press start button no brake pedal I am able to release pedal and button and try again and everything works. Is that strange enough?

Has anyone else experienced this or heard of it or do I have a unique Octy?

Any positive comments (or solution) greatly appreciated.

Welcome - with a name like that you have the wrong car! 😁

Very weird. Just to check, do you press start button once to turn on ignition, then foot on brake, then press start again to start the car? Or are you skipping the first press of the start button?
