What gearbox oil- help please!

Featured Replies

Hi, I am having an issue finding the exact oil I need for my Fabia 2 gearbox. I have been told 3 different oils so far. It is a DSG 1.2 tsi auto, 2010. Petrol.

Getting slippage and need to change oil first to see if that’s the problem 🤞

Any help would be appreciated…

The correct oil type for your gearbox (not the Mechatronic!!) is G055512A2 (you need 1.7 liter).
That is however not going to fix any clutch issues, since the clutch is dry, and completely separated from the gearbox and its oil.

^^^ This.

Unlikely to sort out slippage if it needs a clutch pack.

?

How many km or miles has it done?

& there are 2 oils. In the Box and in the MCU.

As it is a 2010 DQ200 DSG is should very likely have had the Service Campaign carried out sometime from early 2014.

That was changing the oil from Synthetic to mineral, and a software update.

'34F7', There should be a sticker in the spare tyre well if that was done.

No matter though, 11 years ago or at least a decade.

Thank you for all the replies. Got correct oil from dealers in the end. Was 75w 80.

Slippage ok for a day or two now back. RAC scanned and got PO726 code. So I guess could be crank position sensor or clutch pack. Have been advised to drive short distances and if slippage gets worse it’s clutch packs, or if intermittent or fails completely then sensor. Heard sensor is in a tough place to get to (for a change lol).

…Oil was changed after I did the chain as it stretched. 2.5 years ago. RAC chap looked at oil I changed and said it was dark but not too bad.

Finally changed the crank position sensor: use a small ratchet and 4mm 3inch “ball ended” (essential!). Car seems to be ok now. Many Thanks for the advice.
