340mm Brake Pads - fast road options

Featured Replies

Help / clarification please ...

I want to get some improved front pads on my 2014 3.6.

I was hoping to get Mintex MRM1801 (replacement for the M1144) but they don't do them in this fitment, only their standard material - https://www.brakebook.com/bb/mintex/en_GB/applicationSearch.xhtml

Can anybody confirm if the later Mk3 Superb, or any MQB chassis for that matter, had the same or different 340mm calliper setup because the dimensions for the Mk3 pad are identical to the Mk2 but they list a different part number!?

On the Superb MK2, there are both 345x30mm and 340x30mm front brakes depending on the car's build code. Build code 1LK is 345x30mm, and build code 1LA is 340x30mm. Build code 1LK and build code 1LA use different front brake calipers, as well as different front brake discs.

The brake calipers on the Superb MK2 with 340x30mm front brakes are the same as the brake calipers on the Superb MK3 with 340x30mm front brakes. However, many aftermarket brands sell different front brake pads for these two cars.

There's one model of Brembo, one model of Delphi, one model of Febi, one model of Ferodo, one model of Hella, one model of Jurid, two models of Optimal, one model of Ridex, and two models of Valeo listed for both 3C0698151G (Superb MK2) and 8V0698151C (Superb MK3), and I expect there are other examples you could find. So the same aftermarket brake pads are sometimes sold for both cars.

Can't help with specific part numbers, but the DS2500 pads on my vRS have been the best pads I've used out of EBC, Pagid and OE. I haven't tried Mintex - they're next.

Many thanks - I'll either get the mk3 Superb Mintex front or possibly do what I really originally whated to do and be using RacingLine.

I've had no issues with YellowStuff on my old 9-5Aero or on our 2010 Tiguan but I'm not sure if want the yellow on my Sleeper grey V6 as I'm going for stealth.

I understand that the DS2500 are very good but I recall they don't have the R90 approval so personally wouldn't go there.

I do very few miles so don't get through pads.

You’re in the UK aren’t you? We aren’t in the EU anymore! By few miles I assume because it’s a special car, etc, rather than being driven around town only?
