Should I buy

Featured Replies

Hello

I'm in the process of buying a 2020 69 plate superb estate 2.0d 4x4 L&K model with 80k miles.

The garage have given me history of the car which is part, one at 17,000 one at 54000 and one at 75000.

I've asked if the DSG and Haldex have been serviced but the garage have no information.

Should I walk away? It's priced at £16500

Cheers.

Here is a link Skoda Superb

for £16,500 I’m sure you can find a lower-mileage example with a full service history. Keep looking.

I assume you're on about this one here?

For £1,000 less there is this one (although no details yet) 20,000 miles fresher, or for the same miles this one for £2,500 less.

At 80k you ideally want the Haldex/DSG service info. That being said, I would assume virtually every VAG independent that would do a DSG/4x4 service would have updated the service records digitally... is there nothing there?

Im going to look tomorrow as its 3 miles away - I need an estate btw but thanks for the other links, for comparison

This one for far less miles and a much better fuel…

Lovely

The estate is 660litres but the hatchback is a cavernous 625 litres and the seats all go down in the same way

I don’t know how I missed that, apologies! I had it set to “estate” on AutoTrader, so I didn’t check. Mind you though, the hatch is no cheaper so the comparison still stands.

@travs I bought a vRS hatch after finding out it really was a hatch! The only reason I can see for getting the estate is adults in the back (barely any difference IIRC) and roof rails. I’m a mountain biker so sometimes regret not getting a car with rails, but aside from that the hatch is as practical as the estate.

I need dirty D for long distance airport transfer work and 2019 onwards, nice car though

Load opening also I guess. The hatch is awesome but you’ve still got to lift the dead bodies over the boot lip

Wants a vRS then - stiffer springs to negate the weight in the back.

The other difference is that, in terms of airports and suitcases, having the estate gives you a higher load space to stack bags. It’s the one thing for mine - I don’t care, but the last two foot of boot isn’t that high.

Are those wheels actual Superb ones? Not sure if I like them or not hmm

Pretty sure I’ve seen them on kodiaq’s

Not sure, I went to see it, drove lumpy and seemed underpowered, so walked away

Plenty of fish in the sea.

@powr8 I would also ask, have you considered a diesel vRS estate? Can get a fairly tidy one for that money, and while not quite as big as the Superb, it's still a good 610 litres of boot space.

Same/similar engine, gearbox and AWD system, the only real difference is you're sacrificing a bit of interior quality, although that said the Mk3.5 isn't exactly medieval.

Yes, they are the standard L&K 18" wheels. Also standard on L&K Octy 3 (may be not 18" as standard. I can't remember).

They’re “Aero-Vega’s”. Fella who was debating the mk3 v mk4 had them on the L&K that he bought.

On a side note I’m mildly triggered about having to falsely apostrophise Vega’s as in plural of Vega and distinguish it from Las Vegas.

Good shout. If your life doesn’t depend on it then wait for the right car.
