Hi everybody, had anyone fitted 215mm wide tyres to the 18" vega wheels on the Scala Monte Carlo, (as standard on the Kamiq), instead of the standard 205mm, which don't offer much protection to the wheels, and any thoughts? Thanks.

Sounds fine to me, differences are too small for any concerns. Things to note and check, are some tyres of the same size, in either size, offer more or less protection than others. The 215 may be more available in a wider range of makes and models of tyres, or may not be and at higher or lower costs for the size.

On the Scala, the outside diameters of the standard tyre sizes ranges from 631.9mm to 641.7mm. The centre point of these two numbers is 636.8mm.

The outside diameter of 215/40R18 is 1.2% smaller than the 636.8mm centre point. Additionally, the outside diameter of 215/40R18 is 0.4% smaller than the standard tyre size with the smallest outside diameter.

The outside diameter of 215/45R18 is 2.2% bigger than the 636.8mm centre point. Additionally, the outside diameter of 215/45R18 is 1.4% bigger than the standard tyre size with the biggest outside diameter.

Therefore, perhaps look at 215/40R18 instead of 215/45R18 as an alternative to the standard 205/45R18. Although 215/45R18 appears to be a more common tyre size than 205/45R18, 215/40R18 appears to be an even more common tyre size than 215/45R18.
