ESC and TMPS Error

Featured Replies

I have a 2013 (63) 1.6 DSG Octavia with 182k, at c.60k it had a replacement mechatronics which may be pertinent to this issue.

On Sunday having driven for 45 minutes and parked at a shopping centre, when I returned to the car it would not start and displayed ESC error, then TPMS error, then stop start error as well as telling me to put in P / N to start despite being in park. After about 30 minutes the car started and travelled the 45 minutes home with no issues.

It has started all week and then today mid journey approaching traffic lights the same errors came up and I lost drive completely, not even limp mode, again after about 10 minutes this time the car started and drove to the garage, many fault codes read including steering angle sensor and loss of communication with the transmission control unit.

Cleared the codes and drove about 300m and the same thing happened, when we read the codes again ESC, stop start and loss of communication with the transmission control unit, no steering angle this time.

I have read that relay 645 may be the culprit, my local dealership has one on hold for £27, do I change this or am I wasting my money, has anyone else had anything similar?

Last time the mechatronics went I lost a load of oil under the car, no such issues with this now and it keeps driving after a short break so I am less inclined to think that this is another mechatronics, well at least I am crossing everything that it is not!!

Rather than guessing get a proper diagnostic scan done, very often ESC and TPMS errors are caused by a faulty ABS wheel speed sensor.

Unfortunately the earliest diagnostic I can get booked is at the end of the month so trying everything else as well!

I have managed to test the relay and that is showing as working so I am ruling that out.

The fault seems to becoming more frequent, although when the car started last time it would not allow me to move the gear selector so I don't know if that is point more to the mechatronics or a fault sensor like the ABS wheel sensors.

I did have a slightly flat tyre and now that I have pumped up the tyres it will not let me store the pressures and just says that the system is not available.

I have had similar problems over past month or so. Skoda sent out a VW technician who did a thorough run through with diagnostics. Arranged with Skoda dealer ( with which I have a service plan ) to replace the ABS sensor. They even gave me a hire car. So now all seems ok. Will update if anything changes.

So I would assume your problem may be similar.

Sounds very much like the DQ200 DSG is the issue, maybe just a connector / earth.

But who knows what they messed up when doing the work if they did.

?

How much have you paid for the MCU to be replaced.

& replaced not repaired?

re a 2013-2015 DQ200 DSG.

Did the car ever have Service Campaign '34H5' carried out any time since 2017?

Software update DSG. Preventative, heat, pressure, failures, accuator.

Repair kits available.

The mechatronics was replaced by Skoda in 2017 and 130k miles ago, cost around £1500 fitted.

I believe that it has been in for the update to the DSG since then

@Cbiggs I misunderstood, i was thinking you meant recent DSG work carried out.
