Welcome!

You'll likely get a better response in the Octavia Mk3 forum here.

In answer to your question - that part number is for an MIB2 unit, so yes, you'll have wired CarPlay/Android Auto via the USB-A port in the center console.

Amazing thank you!

I know i need a USB adaptor and a GPS antenna, do yoy happen to have any links for them?

Im a complete newbie when it comes to this, I just replaced my old stereos in my mk1 vrs without all this faffing around 😂

Not a clue - I haven't touched head units yet.

Best bet is to wait for someone else to come along, or see if @Dean can move this post into the correct section.

A lot of people don't check here - perhaps @Ootohere might be able to suggest some names to tag.

All moved.

The best person to ask is @pab567

He can provide you the upgraded usb port

For the gps if you use Android auto or carplay, you don't need it as it uses the gps antenna of the phone.

If you really need an antenna, i guess any ali... Will work as i once had a Chinese head unit and tje stock gps antenna of the car worked on it.

But again, maybe pab can provide you with one

The first question is on the equipment you have now so @Diixiie87 pls have it posted.

So I have a belaro MIB1, no satnav, just the basics I guess!

I have ordered a headunit and module, but I know it needs to be coded, hopefully I can get that done without issue!

The whole thing came out of a car, just removed, so im not sure if it will be component locked or not, can anyone advise?

It will because you're installing it in a different vehicle.

Well I have a mechanic that works for skoda and says he can code it, so I'll take it to him and let him do it for me! 😂

He should then have the answers to all of your questions

Okay - good luck with that one. It basically coding in the unit to the car and removing Component Protection.

He said he can do it, so time will tell!

Why have they made upgrading the stereo so difficult!

Because of the number of stereos that were getting stolen and sold on the black market - first they added PIN codes but those are easily calculated so then they came up with Component Protection (which is applied to other modules also) so the provenance of the module can be checked back at corporate HQ (but some people have even found a way around that now).
