Skoda superb mk2 damp smell

Featured Replies

Hi ive taken ownership of my son in laws 2011 skoda superb and it's got a damp smell all the time I've cleaned the carpets and had a good look around it hasn't got a sunroof but the boot opens 2 ways like a saloon or a hatchback I've checked the boot and its dry any help would be very much appreciated

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Check the pollen filter, it may be damp and/or overdue a change.

Not sure where this is located on a Mk2 Superb, but it might be behind the glove compartment.

Hopefully a Mk2 owner can advise.

I had a damp issue with my superb, I emptied the boot, removed the carpets and found water in the spare wheel well ( APTLY NAMED).

I finally found the fault was water coming in the metal part of the bootlid, possibly from ill fitting lights.

every time i lifted the bootlid water had collected in the lid and poured out into the boot gathering in the well and unable to escape.

my solution was to drill a couple of holes in the well at the lowest points, fitting a rubber grommet in the hole, I also noticed predrilled holes in the edge of the boot lid with painted over rubber caps, I removed these.

These two measures have helped, no more damp smell and very little water build up any where.

not a very technical solution but worked for me

Little bit late, but it’s accessed from below the glovebox. There’s a removeable panel then the housing lid slides sideways and drops the filter down.
