Octavia gone into limp mode.

Featured Replies

My Sons Octavia has gone into limp mode, dealer says its the oil temp sensor that's caused it, can this be right?

I would think that could be possible - if the ECU thought the oil temperature was too high, it could command limp mode to protect the engine.

Is your son in the habit of having the oil temperature displayed on the MaxiDot screen?

Has the dealer stated what DTC (ECU fault code) was found.

Hi thanks for your interest in this problem. I'm not totally sure in answer to your questions, but I will ask him and get back to you. thanks again.

How much is the dealer asking for repair?

It is a good idea to say what engine / gearbox, age and mileage the Octavia has done.

Hi I believe its a 1.9 TDI, but I don't know the mileage. This is something I will add when I have that info from my Son who's car it is. Regards.

£400?!

I had a fuel temperature sensor go recently and that was £115, including the sensor and also repairs to the wiring too.

£400 is a bit steep!. Last one I bought was about £15.(after market) I would ask the dealer how much an oil sensor actually costs and how they came to diagnose the fault. On my old 1.9tdi I think I just unscrewed old sensor and replaced with new. Didn't take long so even if the sensor is £50 cant see £350 labour unless its a porche garage.
