Hi all, I have had my 2022 Karoq serviced at local Skoda Dealer since purchased in May 22. I am due a service now this month as well as MOT.

I have arranged to have both done by an independent garage rather than Skoda Main Servicing for the first time, as they stated they can update the DSR.

However, I don’t know how I can check that it has been done. I have seen references to doing it through MySkoda app but it’s unclear how to actually do that without activating a paid service.

I can see that under the Inspect Option , there is. service (car data and my service partner) option. In that there is a Vehicle data section (which has a red warning Expired) which I assumed was my original monthly paid service plan.

In this it has my mileage, Inspection which states 374 days / at 15400 miles and Oil change - in 9 days /6000 miles

Is this the section I would expect to change eg oil change to once updated show 365 days / 6000 miles or something?

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Your new independent garage should be able to supply you with a print out - or are you worried that, despite their claim, they aren't actually able to update the DSR ?

Unfortunately, simply resetting the service counter does not necessarily prove that the service was actually completed.

The other possibility is that after the service you can use the chat function on the Skoda website to check it's been updated. I've certainly used it in the past for info about our Kodiaq.

Yes Warrior I think that is my concern 🤔🙁. Thanks for the clarification about the resetting of those things not being of any real relevance.

Thanks Skomaz I will try that as an option if unclear. I just wish that the advice to “just refer to the App” would have been clearer.

The first thing to do is ask for a printout of the complete service record from the new garage. Once you have this you can check it against your own records. If it matches up then you're good to go. If it can't be supplied and an excuse is given then you can go to your main Skoda dealer and ask for it.

To be very honest, I only ever use the main dealer for service, yes it is more expensive, but as a customer you can ask for the full service history printout. I tend to keep all the receipts as well, also for things like tyres. Pays off when you trade the car in or sell it.

On the other hand, there are many reputable indy garages out there who pay the fee to be able to keep the online service record up to date and to be able to access it. In some cases these guys are better than the main dealer. I find that asking around is a good plan.
