Cluster upgrade

Featured Replies

I am hoping someone can shed some light for me. I would like to find an instrument cluster for a 2008 estate, 1.4 16v

However I am hoping to be able to source and fit a cluster that has an analog fuel gauge as I must prefer them and find them to be more reliable. Since its a pre facelift car I am aware that anything facelift likely won't fit. I'm sure I've seen some with the analog gauges though. If anyone can point me in the direction of one of those gauges (search terms, sale listing's etc... ) and how to fit and get it to work id greatly appreciate it.

Not sure but I believe if yours is petrol it has to be from a petrol car and vive versa re diesel. Something to do with different imobilser.

That makes sense jn all fairness, I'm hoping there's a petrol version that has the analog gauges, my LCD doesn't look too healthy

My folks had one of the last MK1 1.9tdi estate. It was a fantastic car with more torque and power than you really needed. It would tow anything and went like a train plus got 60mpg and no dpf. It had analogue dash. Perhaps some of the late MK1 petrol would be compatible. Not sure if the dash is the same as pre facelift mk2

Thats a good point! I would have gone for a diesel model but I live literally a mile from the ULEZ so just simply cannot. The 1.4 16v I've got it pretty decent on fuel, 45-50 mpg, can't complain about that. Just hoping I can find a solution for my instrument cluster, its genuinely the only complaint I have about this car otherwise

Might be worth seeing if its repairable. If you fit a new one it will need to recoded etc. I looked at getting my octavia mk2 repaired but fortunately it was just the connector at rear that needed cleaned and reseated. I think it was about £180

Thats a fair point yeah, might be worth looking into. I just thought to myself might as well see if I can fit a "better" cluster while I'm at it, with the temp gauge and analog fuel gauge just because I'm not completely comfortable with just a coolant indicator lamp

As a little side note, I found this one. If it turns out to be from a petrol car do you reckon it might work?

Thanks

Didn't realise it does not have a temp guage. I always thought that was a daft idea. No way of telling temp is on the way up until it comes on. Ok if you can pull over but a nightmare if you cant,

Not sure but at that price might be worth a go. Maybe someone on here could confirm fitment. It would also need to be coded to your car. Think you need VCDS to do it.

I do have VCDS. I'm not much good with it admittedly but you're right, got to be worth a shot

I have been thinking in getting it too. No idea how easy it is to use though. I did read that you have to retrieve the ecu pin and data from the old cluster first. After that no idea. There will be a tutorial online somewhere or someone on here may know.

Good lucck

For sure, I mostly use my copy of VCDS for fault finding and such. I've coded a couple things like drive away locks and disabled the lock confirmation beep because it was excessively loud. One of my mates recently changed out their cluster in a caddy van for a different model so maybe there's hope after all

I reckon the caddy would be similar to do. As said worth a try.

I am aware is almost a half a year later but the P/N you are looking is 5J0920941B, not found anywhere though best best is to find a car thats been sold for spares and ask to check a pick of the cluster I have a Fabia 2008 with the basic cluster been looking myself, as for the programing and coding, there isn't much I have found a Russian post that goes though the whole change and coding a bit of google translate and maybe should help https://www.drive2.ru/l/602337759536880513/

Hope it helps, apparently the BCM needs to be swapped too if you have an absolute basic one.
