Kodiaq Scout 2.0 TDI Fuel pump

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping for some advice regarding my Kodiaq, which I purchased in January from a dealer in Burntwood. The car currently has 66,300 miles on the clock and has a main dealer service history.

Upon purchase, it presented with a few minor issues: the start-stop system wasn't working, the brake discs and pads were worn, there was an HVAC error, the front left suspension seemed to be leaking, and there was a concern about a wet fuel tank.

I took the car to a local garage to investigate the start-stop system fault. Their assessment confirmed the issues mentioned above.

Following this, I returned the car to the selling dealer to address these problems. They managed to resolve the HVAC error and the start-stop system fault. However, the issues with the brakes and the suspension were not addressed. I'm also unsure if the initial concern about the wet fuel tank was fixed at that time, as I forgot to specifically check on that.

The dealership was unwilling to do any work on the brakes or suspension but did sort out the electrical faults (I believe).

Today, after filling up the fuel tank, I noticed fuel actively dripping from the bottom of the tank when I arrived home. This is a significant concern, especially as the dealership is a two-hour drive away, and I cannot afford to be without the car for another two weeks, which was my previous experience.

The car came with a third-party warranty, and my local garage has not attempted any repairs for the fuel leak because the warranty provider wouldn't cover the diagnostic costs.

So, I have a couple of questions for the community:

1. What would you advise in this situation, considering the distance to the dealer and the recurring/new fuel leak?

2. Does anyone have experience with accessing the fuel pump on a Kodiaq? I'm wondering if a perished fuel pump gasket could be the cause of this leak. (If that's the case, I can fix that if I don't have to drop the fuel tank.)

Any guidance or diagrams would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help or insights you can offer!

There's one workshop manual dedicated to diesel engine fuel system indeed. It should give you an idea on how to access the fuel pump and if it implies dropping the fuel tank. Hope this helps.

Regarding other issues, can you post the VCDS scan file here?

I can have a look...

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I cleared the codes, but I'm sure a good few of them will come back. I will post the report possibly tomorrow or the day after.
