Oil Usage ???

Featured Replies

This question is to the 2.0l TDi owners.

Some of you will have got past the 1st service and if the Octy II is like the Furby vRS, will have had to top up the Oil before the 1st service.

I have 2 questions:-

1) Did you have to top up oil before 1st service ?

2) Since the 1st service have you had to top up the oil either when doing a check, or if prompted via the " oil" light ? ( if so how frequently ? )

I am interested to find out as I have heard that the Golf version, appears to require very regular oil checks / top up.

Thanks for your answers.

Only topped up once, used 3/4ltr , not had first service yet, always check oil every 2 weeks.

I've done 16,000 miles, not serviced yet, have had to put total of 2 litres in so far

Same here 3/4 Ltr 6500 miles in my 1.9 tdi DGS Elegance

I put in 3/4 litre at 5,700 miles. I was told to expect the car to use up to use up to 1 litre in the first 5,000 miles (1.25 litres for the 1.9). I think up to 1 litre per 1,000 miles is permissable but i've never heard of a 2.0 TDI using that much.

I've had the warning light on 3 times in 16,000 mile before a service.

Used a litre before the 9k mile service and has used 1.5 litres in the 16k miles since.

Mine's dropped halfway between max and min in 3 months, 14000 on the clock.

David here - steves son with the golf in question :)

I've done 15,000 and managed to put 2l of oil in up to 12k, and i'm close to the warning again (so VW tell me).

seems pretty normal then, although i've been driving a bit in sports mode.... I think the DSG's use more oil because they make you drive them just that little bit better :)

Mine required 1 litre at 8000 miles but was serviced at 10000.

Serviced since at 20000, 30000 and 40000 but not had to top up again.

I think mine must be a oilaholic , its only stopped drinking heavily after 50k
