Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on a mirror problem with my Karoq. When I returned to my car today, I found that the passenger side mirror won't position properly - the motor just runs aimlessly in its housing instead of moving the mirror. From the damage, it looks like someone hit or snapped the mirror back while I was parked (no note left, of course).

What I've checked so far:

  • Removed the mirror housing to investigate

  • All other functions work fine: electrics, heating, and mirror adjustment

  • The issue appears to be in the stem connection to the car body

  • I can see the gear teeth in the stem collar are rolling over each other instead of engaging properly

I don't want to go beyond what's shown in the service manual without a proper plan. I have two videos of the problem - one showing the general issue and another focusing on the gear teeth that aren't engaging correctly.

Has anyone dealt with this type of mirror stem damage before? Is this something that can be repaired, or am I looking at a full mirror replacement? Any guidance on next steps would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
